Checking my Email while on the Road

I like the idea of being able to leave your work behind, and heading for distant shores. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible. In fact, from my experience, I find that being able to completely disconnect from work is more the exception. Instead, since there’s all sorts of stuff going on back in the office, I know that I still need to keep my finger on the pulse of how things are back at work, even while I’m on the road.

Often, email is enough. So I try to make sure to bring my pocket wifi device when I travel, and then I just get a local sim which comes with internet access. That does make me subject to the whims and capricious nature of mobile internet sometimes, but that’s okay. I also usually try to make sure that the place where I’m staying has faster broadband. That way, the pocket wifi is more of a backup, and something to use while I’m mobile. Well, that’s how things get planned out at least. Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan.

The Web and Travel IRL

I really like the internet. I didn’t used to have it when I was young. Back then, there really wasn’t much of an internet. But now that it’s here, I can’t really imagine making do without it. The web isn’t just somewhere out there. It’s in my pocket too. As long as I have my mobile phone with me when I travel, and an internet enabled sim, I pretty much have a huge amount of information available at my fingertips.

It’s really changed things. I can remember talking with someone about NZ SEO services. Companies like these weren’t really around much before the internet took off and took shape. Now, they’re so important because they help to shape the flow of inquiries on the internet and the resulting answers. They are a huge deal for businesses, and they can also be important even for individual bloggers. So it’s truly a very interesting time to travel.

Choosing a Motel to Stay In

I love staying in motels. As far as I’m concerned, they offer the best mix of a comfortable place to stay, a secure spot to leave your belongings, and an affordable price. All those things are so important when you’re out traveling.

Comfort is a big deal. Even if I love to travel and see new places, I know that it can really wear you out. All that walking leads to painful feet and tired legs. Having to work your way through a crowd isn’t exactly the most relaxing of experiences. And if the place you visit gets pretty hot, then you’re really going to tire quickly. That’s why it’s so important to have a place to go back to, at the end of the day, that’s comfortable. For instance, I like a place like this: http://staybellavista.co.nz/bella-vista-rotorua-motel/ or something similar. It can give you peace of mind to know that, even if you get super tired while you’re out seeing the sights, you have a comfortable place where you can lie down and put up your aching feet.

Security is also a big deal, because there’s no ways that you’re going to bring all your luggage around with you. When you’re moving from tourist spot to tourist spot, you want to make sure that you have all the essentials. But you want to leave the non-essentials in your room. That way, you can travel lighter and you can cover more ground. So it’s important to choose a place with good locks and trustworthy staff.

And then there’s price. You don’t want to blow most of your budget on where you will be sleeping. Instead, you want to maximize your ability to see more places, try more food, and experience more things. Those are the memories that you will create, and that you will bring back with you. So I think it’s great that there are good quality motels out there, so that travelers have more and better choices.
